Artist Opportunities

We have several ways to show at LAMAG. We host alternating biennial exhibitions which have an open submission process. These are the “Open Call” exhibitions and the “Juried” exhibitions.” For the “Juried” exhibition, artists submit digital slides for consideration by an independent selection panel.

We are now accepting submissions for Juried Exhibtion 2018.

Our “Open Call” meanwhile, is non-juried and thematically based. All work that is submitted will be accepted until the gallery is full. The next Open Call will be 2019. To receive notice of our artist opportunities, you can sign up to receive our bi-weekly newsletter, www.lamag.org/contact-us. Or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

Our parent organization, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs provides grants for mid-career artists through the City of Los Angeles (COLA) Individual Artist Fellowship program, as well as Artist in Residency (AIR) grants. These are awarded through the Cultural Affairs Department Grants division, and culminate in an exhibition at LAMAG.

COLA & AIR Grants programs call for submissions now open

The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs is now accepting proposals for its 2018-19 Artist in Residence (AIR) and City of LA (COLA) Master Artist Fellowship grants programs.

The Artist in Residence RFP seeks community-based/teaching artists to coordinate multi-week participatory workshops in non-arts venues such as social service agencies, culminating in group presentations. Artist In Residence Guidelines can be found here: http://dcaredesign.org/air.

The COLA Fellowship Program honors an assortment of Los Angeles’ best contemporary artists. The awards allow accomplished artists to create new work while DCA organizes a museum exhibition, performing and literary arts showcase, and an online catalog to document and market the selected artists and their new works as one cross-section of the exciting Los Angeles art scene. Guidelines can be found here: http://dcaredesign.org/cola.

The submission deadline for both programs will be Friday, October 27, 2017.
