African American Paper Quilts
Saturday, March 10, 1 – 3 PM

Please join us for an afternoon all ages workshop with artist and COLA 2018 fellowship recipient June Edmonds as she guides us through her improvisational process of creating an abstract mosaic-style collaged paper quilt. Using vibrant and pearlescent watercolors with other media, you will create your own artwork by exploring a variety of brushstrokes, motifs, mark making and patterns inspired by African American quilts.

June Edmonds (b. 1959 Los Angeles, CA) lives and works in San Pedro in Southwest Los Angeles. In 1982 she received her BA degree in Fine Art from San Diego State University in San Diego, CA with a Black Studies minor; and in 1990 June received her MFA degree in Painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. In 2012, June had solo exhibition at Avenue 50 Studio Annex Gallery in Highland Park, CA; and was in the group exhibition “Hard Edge” at CAAM in 2015. In 2017 June did a residency in Paducah, KY at A.I.R.
