Big ReadNative American Beading with Meztli ProjectsFriday, May 21 at 1 PM PST
As part of the 2021 National Endowment for the Arts Big Read program, LAMAG hosted a virtual workshop with Kimberly Robertson of Meztli Projects inspired by The Round House by Louise Erdrich. Robertson brought her experience as an anti-violence advocate to facilitate a beading circle for women and femme identified folks to learn beading techniques, talk about kinship and the relationship between land and the violence that women and femme identified folks experience because of cis heteropatriarchy. Through the threading of beading, community is built among folks.
Registered participants received a copy of the book and an art making kit through the Los Feliz Library.
