Big Read
Native American Beading with Meztli Projects

Friday, May 21 at 1 PM PST

Take part in the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read by enjoying this year’s selection, The Round House, by Louise Erdrich. LAMAG will host a virtual workshop with Kimberly Robertson of Meztli Projects. Robertson brings her experience as an anti-violence advocate to facilitate a beading circle for women and femme identified folks to learn beading techniques, talk about kinship and the relationship between land and the violence that women and femme identified folks experience because of cis heteropatriarchy. Through the threading of beading, community is built among folks.

Registered participants will receive a copy of the book and an art making kit. Kits will be available for pick up from the Los Feliz Library (1874 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027) on Thursday, May 13th from 6:30-7:30pm.

This program is now full. Please email lamagbigread@lacity.org to be added to the waitlist for this workshop.
