LAMAGLearnIkebana with Felisa FunesSaturday, December 7, 2019 at 1:30 PM
Inspired by exhibition artist Cauleen Smith’s new video work ORANGE JUMPSUIT, participants learned the Japanese art of flower arranging, or ikebana, and created their own work with Felisa Funes from Of the Flowers.
This program was organized by Jamie Costa.
Felisa Funes is the lead designer at Of the Flowers. Trained as a Fine Artist, she earned her BFA at UCLA before moving on to receive her MFA in Sculpture from Yale University. She grew up in Southern California, and considers herself a California girl, but is grateful for her time living in other great cities like Washington DC, New York City, and Berlin. Felisa brings to her craft a strong creative drive, unique ideas, as well as a passion for her materials, and is very selective with the forms and colors she works with. Texture and balance are pushed to a sculptural and painterly dimension. Floral design is for her a continuation of a long and diverse art practice.
