Big Read
Printmaking with Meztli Projects

Friday, May 14 at 1 PM PST

Take part in the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read by enjoying this year’s selection, The Round House, by Louise Erdrich. LAMAG will host a virtual workshop with Joel Garcia, printmaker and facilitator of Men’s Circles. Garcia will guide a printmaking session to reflect on pre-colonial and Indigenous perspectives on masculinity to develop prints that can help imagine ways of repairing harm committed within a community and against one another. This workshop is designed to be intergenerational and is open to all members of the general public.

Supplies required for the workshop are listed below:

  1. Plexiglass (4×6 in.)
  2. Etching needle
  3. Several sheets of paper (5×7 in.)
  4. Ink
  5. Lollipop stick
  6. Rolled felt brush
  7. X-acto blade
  8. Barren
  9. Paper towels (1-2)
  10. Bath towel
  11. Photo (4×6 in.)
  12. Cookie sheet or casserole tray (for water)
